Jordan Baseman, Amanda Coogan, Jem Finer, Bethan Huws New commissions at Woolsthorpe Manor, Grimsthorpe Castle and Ayscoughfee Hall Time and Time and Time Ayscoughfee Hall: Amelia Beavis-Harrison, Joana Cifre-Cerda, Robert Foster, Laura Mahony, Julieann O'Malley, Hestia Peppe and Sally Anne Roberts A site-specific group exhibition, each performance is a newly commissioned work for COMPASS that speaks to Ayscoughfee Hall and unfolds over the duration of the performance. The seven emerging artists, along with Coogan, have worked together over the last month to create a dynamic live exhibition which will culminate this Sunday 28 October during which all of the artists will perform simultaneously from 12.30 – 3.30pm. (Saturday 27 1.30-3.30pm)Visitors are free to explore the hall and grounds of Ayscoughfee Hall, encountering the live performances presented as living installations. David Shrigley:How are you feeling?

I am a huge fan of David Shrigley! I thoroughly enjoyed his exhibition 'how are you feeling' in Manchester at the Cornerhouse. I especially enjoyed his exhibition 'Brain Activity' in London! I think it is the raw humor that I enjoy and the way some of his pieces are interactive (as you can see in my photos) or require the audience to add to it before it becomes complete.

Liverpool Biennial & Manchester Galleries.

My trip to the Liverpool Biennial & galleries in Manchester was fantastic! My Favorite ones were, The Tate, LJMU Copperas Hill Building, The Cunard Building, Mancher Gallery (First Cut!) and of course The Cornerhouse with David Shrigley's inspirational work!

John Moores Painting prize.

JARIK JONGMAN: 'WAITING ROOM' 2011. MY REVIEW! This oil painting by Jongman caught my eye as soon as i entered the room. From that distance, it looks incredibly dark, and it is, however as you get closer, you become aware of the yellow glow coming through the window. This natural light source highlights the almost hidden furniture lingering in the shadows. As i stand in front of it, I feel as if I am in the room itself, maybe stood in the doorway looking in. It feels damp, dusty and dirty as if it might be the acquired home of a homeless person. I think it feels damp due to the shiny oil paint looking wet. After spending a lot of time looking and exploring its aura, I get a sense of de ja vu. Have I been here before, in this room? Perhaps through a nightmare? Is it called the 'waiting room' because you're waiting for someone? who are you waiting for? Is it the material of nightmares because you are waiting endlessly for nothing? I think so. I imagine myself waking up from sleeping on one of the sofas due to the morning sunlight shining through. The fear would kick in again as I am reminded I am still here, and always will be. This journey I was questioning is partly the reason why I like it so much, it got me thinking and asking questions about why someone painted this  room apart from all others. The answers you end up debating are fascinating.I hope that my work will get people to question and interact as much as this piece made me.

Liverpool Biennial 2012

This year's theme is: Hospitality

 

Liverpool Biennial 2012 presents work by 242 artists in 27 locations. The festival takes place in galleries, museums and sites across the city and includes a dynamic program of talks, events, screenings and family activities.

A few of us from my Fine Art course are going tomorrow (Mon 22nd-Wed 24th.) I highly recommend going!

COMPASS!

STILL CHANCE TO BUY TICKETS FOR COMPASS!
Compass is an Artists exhibition Located in three spots across Lincolnshire. Tickets are left for coach pick ups in Sheffield, Grantham, Woolsthorpe, Stamford and Lincoln. You will be picked up in the morning and taken to Woolsthorpe Manor, Ayscoughfee Hall Museum and Gardens and Grimsthorpe Castle. At the end of the day you will be brought back. There are places to eat there, cafe's are on two of the sights.

The Artists featured are Jordan Baseman, Amanda Coogan, Jem Finer and Bethan Huws. Amanda Coogan in Ayscoughfee Hall will be working with seven other emerging artists and all will be preforming on each excursion date! Check out the Websight hear  http://beaconartproject.org/
